Parents

It takes a village to raise a child. We work with you in raising children that are proud of their culture and identity, and confident in their unique abilities as a people, while fostering talent development and success.

Parents and Raising Children

Workshops on parenting and raising children in the Diaspora.

You are not alone. We are here to support you. Our lectures, workshops and group discussions cover a wide range of topics related to raising children among cultures like:

  • Raising children in different cultures.

  • Positive behaviour guidance without punishment.

  • Third culture kids.

  • Understanding and catering for children's needs per developmental stages in life.

Social Networking

Networking coffee mornings/evenings.

It can be daunting to find your way in a foreign land often without the ability to speak a foreign language. Common questions might include:

  • How do I find a school and after school care?

  • How do I arrange daycare or find a reliable babysitter?

  • How do I get access to local African food providers?

  • Where can my children go to play, engage in social activities and interact with peers?

  • Where can I find a place where I can keep in touch with other people who have recently moved to the Netherlands?

We find it vital to share our knowledge and experience through these networking events. These are open to everyone in the Netherlands newly arrived or well settled. They take place quarterly. Parents can share information, get to know each other and network.

Vital knowledge shared includes:

  • Relocation and settling into the Dutch community,

  • Finding suitable and professional service providers for their family needs (like hairdressers, schooling, health facilities, language learning, food, etc)

  • Information on raising children among cultures different from one’s own, as well as services and activities for children like learning the languages of their parents;

  • Guidance to look for and find gainful employment including starting a business,
